A founding conversation
Canada2080 will introduce a public long-horizon agenda for building the economic sovereignty, strategic capability, and public value Canada may need by 2080. The conversation begins with Canada’s strong research and educational foundation, examines Francis Wang’s four Canadian systemic Gaps, and moves towards a preferred trajectory, its failure paths, precision resilience, and practical next steps.
The kickoff is designed for a small cross-sector room of public leaders, investors, bankers, researchers, institutions, operators, community leaders, and selected media. Responses to the first invitations will help determine the exact date, time, guest list, panel format, and wider programme.

The tripartite innovation ecosystem
Francis Wang’s Tripartite Ecosystem Model maps innovation through three connected spheres: education, industry, and governance. Education contributes research, talent, and learning. Industry contributes demand, production, operating knowledge, and capital. Governance contributes public purpose, policy, trust, and continuity. The critical field is their intersection, where distinct incentives and resources can be coordinated into complete capability and public value.
The kickoff reflects this model through invited academic, industry, and governance perspectives. A possible 20-minute panel or moderated conversation will be finalized only after participants and roles are confirmed. The purpose is not ceremonial representation. It is to test whether the Canada2080 trajectory can connect research, demand, implementation, legitimacy, and long-term stewardship.
